Brown Development and Aldon Properties Move Forward with Site C Redevelopment Plans

Several years ago we came to this community to share with you some exciting redevelopment plans for the Aldon properties along Battery Lane. Not long after we last met with you, the COVID 19 pandemic shifted our focus from redevelopment to making sure our residents were safe and practices were in place to address pressing health and safety needs. During this time we also created a partnership with developer Hensel Phelps, locally known for projects like the Marriott headquarters, to help us improve and refine our vision for Battery Lane.

That vision shifted the order in which we plan to redevelop our properties. Site C, a new building proposed on combined 4890/Glen Brook and 4900/Glen Mont Battery Lane, is now first in our redevelopment effort to preserve market-rate affordability, promote a quality of mix of housing options and improve pedestrian and bike connectivity through the district.

In late June we expect to file a site plan with Montgomery County Planning for Site C after first soliciting feedback and comment on our proposed plan. It is anticipated that no construction will occur on the project until March 2023. Tenants in those two buildings have been kept informed of our intent to redevelop and leases continue with consideration of our anticipated redevelopment timeframe.

Plans for sites, A, B, D and E have not yet been determined nor has their phasing been decided as the Aldon Properties and Brown Development team monitors the market and the opportunities.

On behalf of the Aldon Properties and Brown Development, we thank you for your continued interest in the Battery Lane District redevelopment project. You can view our latest plans on our website, BatteryLaneDistrict.com
